What playing college basketball means to me:
It means a lot to me to play college basketball. I know that I am a role model to many young girls who dream about playing college basketball in the future. I know that I have a responsibility to act in an appropriate manner at all times because I am a reflection on my college, my coaches and my teammates. It’s an honor to be a college basketball player and be part of such a great organization.
What I expected college basketball to be:
I expected college basketball to be much harder than high school practices and AAU practices. I expect it to be tough to balance school and basketball, but I thought that there would be a lot of people to help me make the transition
What it really is:
It is hard work and determination all the time along with a lot of fun. We get to travel to other states and play against really good basketball teams. We get to spend a lot of time with each other and I get to know my teammates as if they were my sisters. Also there are tons of people who want nothing but the best for you and will help you out in any way possible.
Advice I would give to someone wanting to play basketball in college:
Definitely work hard in high school both on and off the court. The better you do in high school academically, the easier the transition to college will be for you and it will make basketball easier as well.
Why I love playing basketball:
It’s aggressive, you have to work as a team, and it’s fun to play
The women’s player that’s most fun to watch right now is...
Lisa Leslie
Having the opportunity to play professional basketball after college...
Would be a great chance to see the world and do something I enjoy.
I'd go crazy on a road trip without...
My MP3 player, my cell phone, and a pillow
A teammate (past or present) that I’ve been the most inspired by is (and why)...
Three things I'd like to do before I die...
Get married, have kids, buy my own house.
Why academics are important to me...
Academics are important because I know that the better I do in school, the better chances I have at getting a well paid job after college.
An aspect of my game that I'd really like to improve is...
Going to my left stronger.
